21, 1786, when the Council confirmed the order of the court dividing Peters and erecting upon the part taken off the township of Dickinson. The court decreed the division and certified the same to the Executive Council.
The first effort to divide the township was made in September, 1784, when a petition to that effect was presented to the court of Washington County. The territory originally embraced in the township comprehended the present township of Peters, the north part of Union township and all that portion of Allegheny County lying east of Chartiers Creek and south and west of the Monongahela River.
